Visiones Imbris

About

In an incessant, turbulent rain of pixels, objects and faces emerge and intermingle as they rub against each other, drawing a mysterious, indecisive picture; a great fresco woven from fragments of our collective memory, open to multiple interpretations.

Inspired by Lucretius' concept of "clinamen", the unpredictable, transformative movement of atoms, this installation is conceived as an immersive experience. As a synthetic voice from the depths of time slowly recites extracts from De rerum natura - or fantasizes a possible continuation of it – deep, meditative music fills the air, creating a hypnotic experience.

Visiones Imbris shows the reveries of an endless cybernetic rain; it offers a profound meditation, at the crossroads of our minds and the Artificial Unconscious. With the flow of data, with the turbulence of signal flows, ephemeral, volatile forms aggregate; clouds of memories appear, in which we distinguish familiar figures – before they immediately return to oblivion.

Conceived as an exploration of the depths of the human psyche using artificial intelligence, the work invites us to contemplate vestiges of our collective unconscious, to venture beyond the valley of the uncanny. A nostalgic work, it invites us to take the time to contemplate the depths of age, beauty and death, through apparitions emerging from the liminal expanses of latent AI space.

Visiones Imbris is part of the Clinamen series, a project that explores the depths of the Artificial Unconscious in flows of pixels, offering a journey through the labyrinthine corridors of the Artificial Unconscious.

Technical details

The images were produced using custom AI algorithms, based on DeepDream and CLIP by OpenAI, as well as OpenGL shaders and procedural post-processing techniques.
